During load development, Lot testing 22LR ammo or for just about any group analysis, the OnTarget software and the targets below are the tools I use.

I like to record Shot Count, Mean Radius, Standard Deviation Radius, Max Spread Center to Center (CTC), and Coefficient of Variation when analyzing group size.  These are not easy measurements to obtain without the help of software.

The Encompassing Cone of Fire (ECF) is the best measurement of a rifle’s ability to shoot precision groups. This measurement can be used to predict where 95% of your shots will likely go and in determining which of two groups of the same size is better.
