Below is a detailed description of available brass processes available from The Avid Shooter. Check out The Brass Prep. Services Page for the latest prices and discounts.
Brass Trimming
All brass will be trimmed to length using a Giraud Case Trimmer. If I don’t have the Pilot for the Giraud Case Trimmer additional time should be allowed. Please check here for availability.
Vibratory Cleaning (Walnut or Corncob)
All brass will be Vibe Tumbled using a Thumler’s Tumbler Ultra Vibe Tumbler. The Thumler’s Tumbler is a large drum case tumbler capable of cleaning 300ct 300WM cases at once. I use walnut media with an added polishing medium during initial cleaning & polish.
Belted Magnum Collet Resizing (Bench Reloading Press)
Do you shoot a belted Magnum? This additional resizing step can add life to your brass. Belted cases will start to stick in the chamber after 2-4 firing. the case expands just above the belt and does not get resized by the standard resizing dies. That’s where the Collet resizing dies comes in. Capable of resizing that hard to reach area 1/8” above the belt, the collet die will give you 2-4 more firings! If you are resizing your brass with a minimal shoulder bump, you might extend your brass life for a 12 or more reloads.
The collet die is universal and works on all types of the popular belted magnum calibers: .257 Weatherby Magnum, 6.5 Remington Magnum, .264 Winchester Magnum, .270 Weatherby Magnum, 7 x 61 Sharpe & Hart, 7mm Remington Magnum, 7mm Weatherby Magnum, 7mm STW, .300 H&H Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 Weatherby Magnum, .308 Norma Magnum, 8mm Remington Magnum, .338 Winchester Magnum, .340 Weatherby Magnum, .350 Remington Magnum, .358 Norma Magnum, .375 H&H Magnum, .416 Remington Magnum, .458 Winchester Magnum, .458 Lott Magnum, as well as several belted wildcat cartridges.
Resizing (Progressive Reloading Press)
All brass will be resized using a Dillon 750XL and your die. I have measured and recorded the tolerance on resized brass to be around +/-0.002 to +/-0.003 thousands. Brass will be lubricated with a lanolin based spray and allowed to dry before resizing. Add de-priming and mandreling the necks back to round for 0.01 / each.

Annealing
Please indicate if you want your brass analyzed for AMP Annealer AZTEC mode. If you do not I will use the standard code prescribed for your cartridge. If you want AZTEC mode annealing used with your brass you will have to provide the code or I will sacrifice one to determine one for you. Your brass will be weight sorted for about 50 cases, 10 of which will be used as an average case. Those cases will be measured in the un-sized condition to establish an average neck wall thickness. Then one case will be used to determine the appropriate AZTEC AMP annealing setting to use for your brass. If you send me the same batch of brass I will be able to use the same AZTEC mode setting. This process is laid out in AMP Annealing’s Research and is a proven method to achieving the proper amount of annealing for your brass.
If I don’t have the Pilot for the AMP annealer additional time should be allowed. Please check here for availability.

Inside Case Neck Lube (Graphite)
All brass will have the inside case necks lubricated with graphite.
Lubricating the inside of your case necks with graphite is proven to reduce the variation in the release of the bullet from the case. This has been studied and statistical data shows that graphite will reduce the standard deviation in the force it takes to seat a bullet. This is directly related to the consistent release of the bullet and increase in accuracy while decreasing velocity standard deviation.
